Renaming a company happens for various reasons. In this case, it was because the original name was never intended to stick. Selected with iteration in mind, the CEO of this startup soon realized that the name Sakura—the Japanese word for cherry blossom— did not reflect what the company did or the products they planned to offer. Before moving out of BETA and into the world, it was time to find a name that did a little more heavy lifting; one that worked harder to communicate the company’s unique offering: offer underestimated small business owners fresh opportunity and renewed hope by way of access to credit.
DACHIS | GOLD went to work with key stakeholders and potential customers. Since no good comes of falling in love with the unavailable, we did preliminary trademark search and screening. In under eight weeks, we delivered 31 on-target possibilities, culled from a list of over 100. Here is the result.
